Known as the ancient bones of natural landscape, Stone rings are the subject of much mystery and myth worldwide, but especially in Celtic culture and folk tales. They are known to be magical portals to Otherworld, gates to different planes and dimensions, conducting the receptive energies upward and outward and connecting our world with hidden world of Sidhe. Known as Cromlechs, circles of menhirs that held gatherings of people to celebrate rituals and celebrations, were ancient even to the Celts. These stones were considered sacred, and it was said that “the spirits…resented human interference with the circle” .The stones were also seen as an avenue of worship amongst druids, many called Druids’ Stones and Circles. A great deal of folklore surrounds standing stones. Their names often allude to supernatural origins, known as „fairy rings“, „sorceress rings“, „Druid rings“ and they are often mentioned as gathering places of people of the Sidhe.
