a lone tree sketch

"There are many fairy forts in this district. There is one in broadmeadow. It is a lone tree in the centre of a field. The tree is not very tall and right up through the centre of it there is a hole in which the fairies live. Once there was a boy named Joseph McGuire was crossing the field. Before he came to the tree he saw a fairy and when he moved the fairy disappeared. The Celts are supposed to have made this hole in the tree to hide their jewellery when the "Danes" came to plunder.
The farmer whose field the tree is on never interferes with the tree or he never ploughs the field."
